People overrate the .22 LR as a defensive cartridge. Most ballistics tables are for rifle length barrels. The handgun ballistics tables usually use a 5 or 6 inch barrel. When barrel length drops to 2 or 3 inches the long rifle loses quite a bit of steam. The .32 auto in a gun like the Keltec P32 should be much more effective.
