Now if you just want a well built .270 bolt action rifle for a price us mere mortals can afford ($1k budget), I'd suggest the rifle I own. A Winchester Model 70 .270. Mine is the featherweight variant. I'm not sure how the new ones compare to mine which is about 30 years old..... but I make some pretty tight groups at 200 yards even with my crappy scope. Time to upgrade to a Leupold VX II when i get some cash. They've got amazing optics and are built tough. The one i'm looking at runs around $430.
A word of advice..... buying a cheap scope was the worst decision i made when i got my .270. I'll use iron sights well before using crappy optics.
