I dont know what to tell you, other than you talked to three people who dont know their ass from a whole in their head.

I carry a P229 every day, year round. I've also carried P220's, both old and new, as well as a couple of other P series pistols, and I have yet to have a SIG rust, regardless of steel or finish.

If one were to rust, it would be one of the older guns, the newer guns have stainless steel slides and a better finish over it. (seems I heard this before somewhere

)

If you really want a SIG, by all means, buy one, you wont be disappointed. If you want a lot of SIG specific information, try over at the SIG forum.
