there were alot of makers of rifles in that caliber as well... I just dug out 2 sporterized Czech rifles ( 2 different models if I remember right ) that are both chambered in 8 mm Mauser... both still wear the original stepped military barrels, one even quite pitted on the outside ( like blood would do if trapped between the original stock & the barrel ), but the bores are incredible shape, with very deep rifling... I think I sighted one in for my FIL many years ago... thing kicked like a mule
