I have a pile of Leuupold scopes. The highest power I have now is 36X. I use the 36`s and the 24`s for new rifles when working up loads and bench shooting. For my hunting guns, long range 600 yrds. plus varmint gun I use 6 1/2 x 20`s or 8 1/2 x 25`s. For gun for big game eather a 3 x 9 or a 3 1/2 x 10 for those that I may shoot 600 yrds with. For those that will max at 300 to 400 yrds I like the 2 1/2 x 7`s I have some with fixed 2 1/2 X and have taken deer at 289 yrds. , lazered, and would push that on out to 300 yrds. The lower the power the better the scope is for short range and running shots. The higher power is better for long shots at standing targets. I fell to many people use scopes that are over powered for their perpous.
