The factory new nickel-plated stuff stays home, except for a box a year or so in each caliber to refresh the stock. Even do that with some reloads - leave the nickel-ed ones at home because they won't reload as much, but neither will they get grungy looking.

I guess the OP begs the question, why would you ever take to the range 100% of your ammo inventory? I wouldn't. If I were down to 100 rounds, and if it weren't an election year, and if only the dog weren't complaining at me, I might take 50. If that's not enough, I'd call and be sure I can buy more at the range or at a shop on the way to the range. Otherwise, I'd cancel. I don't light the coals until I know there's some meat to throw on the grill.
