What you saw in the way of CPR was panic stricken people doing their best to help, but most likely causing more damage. I could spend a long time pointing out things that were done wrong as far as first aid goes, but it will suffice to say that the well meaning "rescuers" never checked for breathing or a pulse prior to compressing this guys chest, and probably caused more trauma or made existing injuries worse. I know that they meant well.
I would guess that the man was temporarily unconscious, as he was awake and talking by the end of the video. Actually, he was answering the reporters questions.
It is terrible to see people get hurt, but I felt bad for the lion too.
