The "terror" resulting from disabling the grip safety seems to be somewhat hysterical in that there are and have been, many autos that do not have one. Myself, I have never had the grip safety on any of my 1911's ever not work as intended...I am not even aware of them. My favorite (and only at this time) 9MM, a Browning H.P., does not have one of those little rascals and I do not live in fear of an AD with it.
