The fictional James Bond never had any problems carrying a pistol anywhere, on airplanes, into secure buildings, etc. Real "international carry" is very difficult for even real government agents; for individual travellers, it can mean a long term in a very nasty prison, or even assessing the caliber of the rifles being pointed at you by a firing squad. Either situation is not pleasant, so forget about tucking that PPK in your jeans and setting off on a foreign vacation.
