I have collected and shot this model for over 40 years. However you have already given more history than most know about their guns. Im not sure what history you asking about. Yours COULD have been used as a guard gun but without any documentation or impressed ownership marks somewhere on the gun it is just a story. I have a hard time figuring out how a gun could get worn out and needing rebuilding in just a few years. I have routinly shot well worn guns over a hundred years old that were still quite serviceable and total void of any finish. Do you have any specific questions?
