Is it the part of the hammer that engages and cycles the bolt.

BTW. It is not uncommon for a bolt to stick in the extended position if you operate the revolver without the cylinder installed. Essentially the bolts extends too far and gets stuck in the extended position. To get the pistol to cycle with the cylinder out, you may need to push the bolt back down into its retracted position with your thumb.

The bolt will initially resist your efforts but then it will pop nto the retracted position.

This happens on about half the pistols I own.

From the overall appearance of your hammer you are ready for a new one or at least some work on this one.
