I have a Rem 1187. It has been a superb weapon for hunting, trap and skeet for me. I have also shot my uncles Browning semi-auto.(I don't know what model it was.) The browning was a great gun also! He had a Rem 1100 before that. The only problem with the 1100 was, it was chambered for 3 inch. If you shot a trap, or dove and quail load, it would not eject it! My 1187 is chambered for 3 inch. I have never had that problem with it. I believe they fixed that in that model. My only other suggestion would be to keep the gun clean and keep a few extra O rings with you just in case!
