"...a plate on the bottom..." That sounds like a mag cut off. It pull out the side? Also makes it a No. 1 Mk III.
"...took bolt out..." You take the bolt apart too?
The bolt head is turned in until it stops.
Sounds like the sear is worn, the bottom of the striker or both.
