Guys,
Here's an email I got from a friend with 300 WinMag reloading problems. I'm out of my element here, so would appreciate help from someone. Thanks.

"Fred:

Hey do you find web sites on rifle stuff too? I suppose you do. I need
your help here. As I am loading some hunting rounds for the elk hunt
next year I am finding I need some input from others. Can you check or
ask on a site about reloading 300 Win. Mag stuff. I am finding that even
after sizing and trimming brass that It is very hard to close and open
the bolt on most brass. I have looked carefully at them with a
magnifying glass and can't really see anything. I am wondering if my
shell holder, #4 RCBS, is machined wrong and does not give me enough
"push" or stroke into the die that the case does not go far enough into
the die to reset the shoulder to it's correct depth? I have measured all
points I can think of to see if I can find a problem. I can't. Maybe
the die is cut too deep and won't push the shoulder back enough. Also,
the neck sizing doesn't go all the way down to the shoulder as I would
expect it to.

Maybe RCBS would let me send my dies and shell holder and some sample
brass back to them for a look-see.

Help me if you can. I have always had this problem with the combo I am
dealing with. You may recall it was hard to close the bolt on the rounds
we fired last time in the desert.

Anyway, see what you think and lets talk."
