A .357 has more power/stopping ability - not to mention the much wider availability of premium ammunition for us poor slobs that don't reload.
In my experience, telling shots are usually vastly more effective than spray/pray.
BTW - The Timberwolf the OP's referring to isn't a lever action - it's a slide/pump.
