Less than 1000 rounds thru any 1911 isn't an indication of reliability.
My beef with Kimber is that tthey've somehow established themselves as the premium 1911 manufacturer for anyone who doesn't know that for the price of a Kimber there are half a dozen guns from Sig, to Dan Wesson, STI, Colt, and SA that are better. For the price point there's also Remington and Ruger to name a few more.
Everyone makes a 1911 these days, Kimber seems obsessed with spending good money on ads to convince everyone they're the best, or a custom shop.
