I also shoot both the 226 and g34. Very tough choice. My only issue when switching between the two is getting used to the double stack grip on the 226 after using the G34. Aside from that, and their obvious differences between hammer and striker fired, both are good imho.

Both are incredibly accurate for me. I use the 226 in IPSC and am considering trying the G34 as well. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. For IDPA, I use what I carry which is the SIG225.

Durability, well, both are good in that respect. For the SIG, don't get it blued, go K-kote or Nitron. Glock has the tennifer which holds up well.
