My lesson came this past Saturday in the form of a rookie mistake. My wife and I took another couple to the range so we could all shoot each others' guns. I was particularly interested in my friends' Bersa .380, as I'm considering getting a pocket gun. Shot it, loved it. No problem. The problem came when I tried his wife's Glock. For some stupid reason, my thumb ended up where it's not supposed to be, and the slide took a good sized chunk of skin with it. It bled a lot, and I know it could have been much worse, so I got off lucky. I have no good reason or excuse why I had my thumb where it was.
I'm a revolver guy, but my grip is essentially the same, so I'm at a loss as to why I did that. I know I won't do it again though.
