12 gauge 24s are on the clunky side. 16/20 gauge 24s handled better, all gauges tended to have problems with small weak extractors that like to overide the shells rim...but yours is a family heirloom...hunt it a couple times a year because it was Dads gun....and take good care of it...in v-good original condition a 12ga is worth in the 500/600 range on a good day....
