Take a small wad of 0000 steel wool, and very gently scrub it in a circular motion with your thumb until the remaining rust is gone. Make sure you clean the residual steel wool from the bore and action. You might plug the bore with a patch or piece of tissue first.
The chemical rust removers will remove the bluing-the steel wool won't.
