I dounno if this will help, but: In my 1949 edition of Phil Sharpe's "Complete Guide to Handloading", it lists the .256 Newton, which used .30-06 brass trimmed to 61 mm and necked down. Obviously, it did not have the blown-out shoulder of the Ackley.

All my readings about the "Improved" style shoulders have indicated a certain amount of increased efficiency, meaning that with any reasonable loads there should not be problems with pressures.

At any rate, the preferred powders were 4064 and 4320. They show 129-grain Barnes bullets around 2,900 fps with 44.0 grains of either powder...

There are some computer programs which factor in case dimensions and volume; caliber, and bullet weight and then give some recommendations on loadings. One of the gun mags or nra.com might be of help, there.

Best regards and good luck...
