LOL, you can call your rifle a "George." It doesn't care what you call it or how you classify it. You can certainly take a moose with a varmint rifle. I have a .45-70 varmint rifle and use it for a varmint called
Sus scrofa. Folks have used the 1895 .45-70 for moose for well over 100 years.
