I understand you can get an ambidextrous safety for the 238. It kicks like a .22. The only reason I sold mine was it has the same problem as the Colt Mustang (only worse). The extractor pokes up and if it gets pushed too far down (as it must to some extent to clear the slide reassembly), you now have a detailed low level dissassembly project or trip to the gunsmith on your hands. I understand the 938 has the same flaw as well as another.

My recommendation for your wife is something in the tried and true Kahr line. They work, they recoil (and cost) less than the Kimber Solo, and they don't have the design flaws of the Sigs.
The Beretta Nano might be worth a look, I have no experience with it.
