I have a Star PD (45)
I neglected it, it always fired until one day it started hanging up. Huh.
So, I took it home, cleaned and lubed it for the first time since I got it and its back to its reliable self.
I think the older guns were less tolerant of neglect, but just as reliable if maintained.
Bad on me, you should always clean and lube guns a couple times of year regardless if you are shooting it or not.
Generally they were good guns. Aluminum frame ones could not be shot a great deal but were excellent and ahead of their time.
Shame I can't shoot it well due to aging eyes, love the gun. Still a standby for around the house.
