Nonetheless,
Cockrum involved a law affecting one's choice of weapon for personal defense, and the court sustained the law based on a public safety rationale. And that was in 1859.
You had asserted (post 11) that pubic safety was only a recent concern in connection with the regulation of weapons. Apparently that is incorrect.
