That's a good point.
I've seen enough in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming; but ran into rattlers
far more often in Florida and Georgia (mostly pygmies). They tended to be in much closer proximity to humans, as well (right up to having to kick a few out of my house, and having my resident snapping turtle eat a few in the back yard).
