There are many options available with your budget (you can almost get 2 firearms).
1. Revolver - Ruger SP101, J Frame S&W 60 or 640, or K frame S&W 67 or 15.
2. Another Semi - Glock 19, 1911(pick the caliber you like).
If you like a .45, good but it is not needed.

For CC, I like simple and small -- I mostly CC a Kahr K9. Sometimes, I carry a Walther P99. My CC pistol is usually my HD firearm --- to keep things simple.
When I get around to it, I will get a simpler handgun to replace the Walther P99; Maybe a Ruger SP101, S&W 640, or G19.
