To be honest, spammers aren't that big of a deal. They're annoying as hell, but fairly easy to deal with. Just a few buttons to push and -poof- they're gone. So I'm not sure changing the posting rules would be worth the effort. As Hank mentioned, some of the newcomers start off with a question or an intro thread. I see no reason to hinder that for them.
It was a very good suggestion, maas, but I think it's one of those things where the cure is worse than the disease.
