It sounds like one or both firing pins are sticking or being held in the extended forward/fired position ILO withdrawing into their respective holes when the gun is opened/cocked.
The gun is going to need to be disassembled for a look-see & a FP recess cleaning at a minimum - so if you're not conversant with it's dis & re-assembly, take it to a double gunsmith (not an 870 parts-changer).
Sometimes - IF you're REALLY lucky - a powerful flush through the face of the FP holes will dislodge any crud; BUT, that won't cure a broken/chipped part, or keep the dislodged crud from migrating elsewhere within the action (like to the triggers/sears).
