You've picked a great caliber for varmiting mate. I've shot a Savage that was in .223, and i'm pretty sure it was a varmit because it had a really heavy barrel. It was shooting flat out to 250m with federal 55 grain. Really nice. Dunno if thats of any help. Tikka make a nice looking varmit but haven't shot any of them. Good luck with your search and make sure you post some pics when you get it.
