heres what my parents do.
you get a cheapo uncle mikes holster for your gun, then you get some ugly curtains/drapes/doilies/etc...
screw the holster into the wall so its behind the fabric, but not too close to a window, hang your gun there.
my parents home was broken into twice and they missed this gun(gp100) both times.
