i havnt ever went and looked to see where their trails are at. but as soon as the sun goes down they start going nuts. My father says that he has seen them out in the pasture before and they just run off. scouting isnt much of an option because the land behind us is owned by a lady that lives else where alls i know is her name. so im not a big person to just go trudging on some one elses land. there. we have a pole light but its probably 75 yards on the other side of the barn so the area where the chickens are i would say no not very well lit. We do leave a radio on out in the shed next to the coop but it didnt deture the coons or opossums. hiding spots arnt a problem. I could climb on top of one of our sheds and hunt from there.
