I would say that they are far below winchester and marlin standards. a few guys recommend them but many more will swear by marlin and winchester. if you get a 30-30, the marlin 336 is cheaper than the rossi but if you go with 357 the marlin 1894 will cost about another $200 depending on where you get it. ever since rossi and taurus became partners in crime much of their QC went downhill and many guys that had been die hard rossi fans were converted to marlin fans(even with the post remington downfall).
