Mine has a K231X

K-22 Masterpiece (postwar 3rd model).
Serial number dates it to 1947.

s/n AVU39xx

Starting in the early 1980's all S&W models went to the same serial number sequence so the only thing I can tell you from the serial number is that it was made in 1987.
