Welcome to TFL.

Congrats on a veeery sweet pistol. Should be a real tackdriver.

As NWCP said " avoid hot loads". Stay with standard 38 spec. loads. May tell you that in your 'shooting suggestion' pamphlet.

1st issue of Colt OMT : 6" bbl, adj. target sights, flattop frame, produced from 1904-1908.
Value according to 2008 Standard Cat. of Firearms
exc. 1000, vg 750, good 350, fair 300, poor 200

2nd issue : similar to above, 4",4.5",5", 6" and 7.5" bbl`s, checkered walnut grips, produced from1908-1940.
exc. 700, vg 550, good 300, fair 250, poor 150

Since it came from Grand father- priceless. Doesn`t say that in book, thats M.O.

Keep clean, especially front side of cyl. as tolerance is close and carbon buildup could be a problem.

Enjoy!
