That depends on the laws in the state where you hunt.
Where I hunt, it would be considered a shotgun. The only legal versions would be 20 ga, 16 ga, 12 ga, and 10 ga. ...But they
would be legal for big game and predators (Antelope, Deer, Elk, Moose, big cats, Bears, etc.).
