If you're just looking for a lead launching platform, the SKS is great for that (though a bit heavy).

But if you're looking for something with the cool factor, go for the AK.

As someone else has mentioned, I'd advise against getting an SKS and then trying to turn it into an AK with all the after market stuff. It's easier to just get an AK and be done with it. Besides, I like the SKS as it is, rather than with all the mall ninja tact-cool stuff hanging off it.
