I too have seen this, more than once. Also, if there is a lonely tree out in the middle of a field, they will fly into it. I have hunted Grouse in Wisconsin and it's amazing how they can fly in the woods. Same for Turkeys, but a Pheasant is a different story. Try getting a shot at one when it disappears from you field of view or shooting zone. Yes, most of the time they recover to do it all over again. ...
