I don't know what horror stories you've been reading. I definitely wouldn't carry it with a round in the chamber, I doubt it's drop-safe.

I kind of agree with Stevie-Ray. I think it's below the line of acceptability for self-defense. You can get a CZ 82 or a used Smith revolver for around 200, if self-defense is the purpose.

You won't get anything for it if you try to sell. You might get 75 or 100 bucks if you turn it in to a police gun buy-back as Stevie-Ray suggests.

If you've been reading stories about it blowing up while shooting at the range, get rid of it. These sold for about 100 bucks new, they can't be durable.
