for the record, weight is only a problem if you're not prepared for it. before deer season came along I started hiking around my property in steel toed boots with my M1 garand over my shoulder.
come elk season my regular hunting boots didn't seem so heavy and my regular gun did not bother my on my "death hikes". there is a lot you can to to acclimatize yourself to the weight of a gun before a hunt and then it's no problem.
