I don't specifically hunt with pistols, but I kill alot of stuff with them. I won't be caught in the woods without my Ruger MKII .22 semi-auto. I always have it on my belt, fishing, boating, even hunting big game. I like to carry a box of these "no-Gunpowder" .22 bullets. They're very quite, sound like you lightly claping your hand. Then I can shoot grouse or snow-shoe, and not have to worry about scarying bigger game in the area. I was a little worried about how powerful they are, I shot one into a 2X4 and it went more than half an inch in. Not great, but fine for plinking small game.
