"They" have, and more than just the gas-operated Desert Eagle mentioned by Stargazer.

I have the standard model B (OK, I am braggging a little) Coonan Stainless .357 Magnum semiautomatic. It is almost identical to a regular Colt 1911 pattern gun (but using a linkless system), also holding 7 rounds. The magazine spring strength, though, is something that has to be felt to be believed. They are robust!

I understand there is some interest in re-opening the production line.

You have to have long fingers to wrap around the grips, and .357 loads downloaded to 38 special power levels will not operate the action without a lighter recoil spring, but it is a fine firearm, indeed.
