You did say "something different." When I carry any of my three main .45 autos (Kahr PM45, S&W Shorty .45 & Glock 36) I also carry this .45 derringer. It has been 100% reliable and fits into a boot or pocket.

I have always felt that two guns offer better dependibility than ANY one brand or model. That's why I carried a .22 magnum High Standard derringer with me for my entire PD service. Thankfully, I never needed to use my back-up gun but I would have felt more comfortable carrying a powerful, well designed gun like this if it had been available 40 years ago.
