I am not sure exactly HOW precise you have to be when annealing cases. Call me a liar, but the process I described above has been working just fine for me. If it didn't, then I wouldn't be doing it. As long as you don't get it glowing and anneal the correct portion of the brass case, I would think you are OK, IME. I may be wrong...for the first time...
