Very interesting; I had no idea that the pistol used straight blowback operation. Any idea why FN didn't adopt a locked-breech design?

I could understand if their designers didn't place preservation of the brass high on the priority list, as the gun is designed primarily for LE and the military, but it seems that a locked-breech design could have made the gun more compact.
