I believe you will find that the 1.87" barrel is on the 38 Special version while the 2.1" version is chambered for the 357 Magnum. And, as others have said the difference in barrel length will probably not affect holster fit. Every holster maker in the world builds at least one model for the generic "2 inch" J-frame S&W.
