As you may or may not know, NY is a post ban state. No bayonet holder, no threaded barrels without pinned/welded comps/brakes.

I want to go with a BCM 16" Mid Length Upper. So whether to ADCO or a local shop, I need to get the lug grinded off and the barrel situation taken care of.

Local shop owner said with the flattop upper and the standard front post sight, I could not mount a scope as it would mess up the line of sight (or something to that affect). Suggested getting a gas block.

Also, I am at a loss for whether I should do a thread protector, or spend money on a comp/brake.

Some help would be great, thanks in advance.
