I'm not familiar with that particular gun, but it sounds like it can be used as a magazine cutoff. Lets say you are duck hunting, a goose flys nearby and you want to eject the load of #4's in your chamber and load a shell loaded with BB's. Hitting this button will allow you to eject the chambered round without another shell coming out of the magazine. You can now load the desired shell directly into the chamber.
