After Savage chambered the Model 99 in 308, they continued for a while to make them in 300 Savage as well. Those should be ease to convert to 308 if one wanted to. One could simply load the 300 cases to the same pressure and come close, though I don't recommend that. Too great a chance the cartridges might end up in an earlier Model 99.

The extraction groove on a 300 is smaller than on a 308. Whether that has any effect on case capacity, I never experimented to find out.
