Actually the 1187 was made more adaptable the new machining and not as labor invested as the 1100. If there were any short-comings on the 1100, it sure escaped me and others.

I am or have been a big fan of Remingtons and agree that both are good shotguns. I too prefer the 1100's. I had a magnum and it ate anythiing I put in it. If you can find a nice used one, you won't regret it. .....
